THE BIG PICTURE

Life, oh yee breathe that sips into my lungs. What are you exactly? Your definition escapes the grasps of my mind everytime I try to figure out your true meaning.

Are you the steady pulse I can feel on my wrist? Are you the blood pumping into my heart, flowing through my veins? 

Are you the grief that consumes me every time I think about the most important man in my life, my grandfather. Are you the uncertainty I feel about a future that currently looks so bleak? Are you the pride and love that I see in my mother's eyes every time she looks at me? Are you the pain that I have felt over a broken heart? Or are you the zeal my younger siblings have for any and every activity?

Truth is I could go on and on with the procrastinations about life, but here is what I really think. Life is about happiness as much as it is about sad moments. It is about giving birth to life as much as it is being taken away. It is about blessings as much as it is about curses. It is about giving as much as it is about taking. It is about winning as much as it is about losing. It is about profits as much as it is about loses.

The ying to my yang, balancing the scales no matter the cost. I think it's the universe's way of keeping us in line. To prevent us from getting ahead of ourselves. So that vices do not consume us from the inside out like worms to a carcass.

I say this because we feel the happy moments as much as we do the sad ones. We celebrate life and grieve as much when it's lost. We embrace each and every one of these moments because that is what life is. We roll with the punches and throw our fists in the air in victory because strength and resilience is all we know.

Life is a journey not a fight. A journey with it's obstacles, bumps and free rides, all up for the taking. Life is like a stranger, you have to embrace it even with the uncertainty and baggage that comes with it. Learning to separate the good and the bad while living in the moment.

Truly, life is a one time deal, so live it like it's the last breathe you take. Embrace it while you still have it because I sure as hell am.
